I am an award-winning communications professional with a proven track record in public and media relations, national and local television production, writing, publishing, and strategic communications, in both the public and private sectors.
While my childhood ambitions to win Wimbledon, own a PEZ factory, and act on Broadway fell through, I was inspired by pioneering women in television journalism. Watching them report from the steps of the Capitol in Washington, DC and the UN in New York, planted the seed to follow in their footsteps. So much easier said, than done! The unlikely story of how I, not only, worked my way into TV news, but up the same steps at the Capitol, is best saved for another day.
In a nutshell, my career began, first, in publishing as an editor, moved to television as a writer/producer, then turned to politics and government as a press secretary and speechwriter. Currently, as an independent consultant, I offer business communications strategies, as well as, web, print and video content for internal staff, external partners, news media and public audiences. For individuals, I provide training in speech presentation and news interviews.
My employers and clients have included Congresswoman (now Senator) Tammy Baldwin, University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank, CBS News, ABC-TV, Time-Warner Television, Scott, Foresman and Co. publishers, the Wisconsin Health Information Organization, authors and non-profit organizations.
I hold a B.A. from the UW-Madison and an M.A. from Middlebury College, Vermont and Paris, France.
